Mike Reiss and Adam Schefter](http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/9388862/rob-gronkowski-new-england-patriots-scheduled-back-surgery-tuesday-sources-say)** of ESPN.com report that Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will undergo back surgery on Tuesday -- his fifth surgery since November.

"One source said the time Gronkowski will be out will depend on what else, if anything, doctors find when performing the procedure and how Gronkowski responds to surgery," writes Reiss. "The generally expected time for recovery is 12 weeks. There is some level of concern within parts of the Patriots organization as to when Gronkowski might return."

Gronkowski is not expected to be ready for training camp, according to the report.

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald writes that Tim Tebow recently returned to Florida to train with former NFL quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Chris Weinke. The two worked at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. in an effort to sharpen Tebow's throwing mechanics.

"At the end of the day, I think, not to speak for him, but he feels like he has the ability to play that position at that level," Weinke told the Herald. "I think he would like to stay at that position, but he's also a guy I think that will realize if that opportunity is no longer available, that he's a team guy and will do whatever it takes to help the team win."

Nick Underhill of MassLive.com believes that WR Kenbrell Thompkins, TE Zach Sudfeld, and WR Danny Amendola are three players whose stocks are on the rise following last week's mini-camp practices.

"With many wide receivers forced to the triage unit with injuries, the undrafted Thompkins was given a bigger role in the offense and made the most of his opportunity," writes Underhill. "He showed consistent hands, a little speed and made a handful of plays that stood out during mini-camp. If the 53-man roster had to be finalized today he probably would still be on the outside looking in, but he's generated some momentum heading into next month's training camp, where anything can happen."

Mike Florio of NBC Sports reports that the New York Jets will pay more for Tim Tebow in 2013 than the Patriots will in 2013 and 2014 combined.

"Connecting the dots was Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com," adds Florio. "The Jets owe the Broncos $1.53 million in salary that was advanced to Tebow in 2011. The Patriots owe Tebow $1.36 million, if they keep him for two full years."
