News Blitz 6/24: Brady not alone in supporting Gordon

Vacations are underway throughout the NFL and the landscape has been very quiet – even if Foxborough. The Patriots have had their share of attention this offseason, but there hasn't been much activity surrounding the team in recent days.

One issue that continues to get some attention is the status of suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon. Tom Brady's Instagram account appeared to show the two throwing the ball together last week, and that has led to some speculation that the wideout could be on the road toward reinstatement.

The league has yet to provide an indication that could happen as of yet, however. Still, there has been some Gordon talk over the last several days and NBC Sports Boston looks at the structure that Brady and the Patriots are trying to provide.

The Boston Globe's Sunday notes led off with an item about the NCAA and NFL sharing data to help make football safer. The Boston Herald's version looks at the sports year that was in Boston and tries to rank it among the all-time best in history for a single city.

NFL Network's Mike Giardi reported over the weekend that Sony Michel's latest arthroscopic knee surgery went well and that the running back is progressing nicely. Meanwhile, Giardi's colleague at NFLN, Rich Eisen, believes Michel could take a run at eclipsing Corey Dillon's single-season franchise rushing record.

NFL veteran Gil Brandt ranks the Patriots roster the fifth-most talented in the league. provides some interesting over/under numbers for team wins as well as some fantasy predictions.
