Patriots Cheerleaders host Junior Patriots Cheerleading Program for 12th consecutive year

The New England Patriots Cheerleaders Junior Cheerleaders program kicks off its 12th year with clinics with the 2014 squad.

The New England Patriots Cheerleaders welcomed 240 young ladies to Gillette Stadium and the Dana Farber Field House to participate in clinics as part of the annual Junior Patriots Cheerleader program, now in its 12th year. These talented and energetic individuals completed sessions on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 18. The Junior Cheerleaders will also have the opportunity to perform at the 2014 preseason home opener on August 15.

Bright and early on Saturday, May 10th, 240 excited junior cheerleaders flooded into the Dana Farber Field House to participate in the 2014 Junior Patriots Cheerleader program. Family members and friends stationed themselves along the sidelines to watch the day-long event, where the young athletes took part in a series of workshops, taught by the 2014 Patriots Cheerleading squad.

The day kicked off with a few fan favorite dances before Cheerleading Director, Tracy Sormanti, greeted the 2014 program members. The junior cheerleaders, aged seven to 17, broke off into groups stationed along the parameters of the turf field where they had the chance to learn from professional cheerleaders. Different aspects of cheerleading were highlighted at each station -- while one group was tumbling, another was rehearsing cheers. Across the field in one end zone, a group was learning part of their game day dance routine, and on the other, they were activating with some BMAX!

During lunch on the first day, the junior cheerleaders got to ask members of the 2014 Patriots Cheerleaders some questions. Among the laughs and questions, the Patriots Cheerleaders had the opportunity to discuss important lessons with the girls. Some of the topics discussed were the importance of exercise, eating properly, and working hard for their dreams. This interactive and educational experience is always a nostalgic and heartwarming day for all members of the NFL cheer squad, as they identify with the hopes and dreams of the young girls.

The fun continued on Sunday, May 18th for clinic number two. While the young cheerleaders revisited some of their lessons from the week before, they also learned the second half of their game day performance routine. During the break periods, the Patriots Cheerleaders took to the field to perform some of their favorite routines. Pat Patriot even made a surprise visit for the program's picture day!
