Patriots sign veteran DB Nate Jones

The New England Patriots announced today that the team has signed DB Nate Jones, who is in his eighth NFL season.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that the team has signed DB Nate Jones, who is in his eighth NFL season. Terms of the contract were not announced.

Jones, 29, has played with Dallas (2004-07), Miami (2008-09, 11) and Denver (2010). He originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick by Dallas (205th overall) out of Rutgers in 2004. Jones, 5-10, 185 pounds, has played in 101 games with 10 starts and has 163 total tackles, 6.0 sacks, three interceptions and 59 special teams tackles. Jones has also played in three postseason games, two with Dallas and one with Miami.

After four seasons in Dallas, Jones signed with Miami as an unrestricted free agent in 2008. He signed with Denver as an unrestricted free agent in 2010. Jones was released by Denver on Aug. 29, 2011 and signed back with Miami on Sept. 20, 2011 and played in two games with the Dolphins before being released on Oct. 5, 2011.
