On the frustration of losing...
We didn't do much. It was poor execution a lot of the time and we all have to do a better job. I have to do a better job throwing the ball, being more accurate, making better reads. A lot of the things are correctable that were not so good today. You have to give the Jets a lot of credit. They played a good game defensively. We had our chances.
On another possible last-minute scoring drive...
We had our chance there. We just didn't execute well in that two-minute possession. That's something we've been good at, but the Jets were better at it today. It's frustrating because I think we had high expectations for this game. We just didn't put it together very well and we'll learn from it and get back to work this week.
On the facing the Jets blitzes...
We were prepared hard for them. They always challenge you with the different looks they give. It's a very talented team. A lot of them we had worked on and I think we had a good plan, we just didn't execute very well.
On why they ran the hurry-up offense...
We tried to go hurry-up pretty much the whole game. We had some good opportunities I thought to take advantage rolling fast and again it didn't help very much. So we just thought we had some plays that we could have made that we didn't make. If we make them we get first downs and we have to do a better job in the red area. I think that's two weeks in a row we didn't do a very good job in the red area. That has to improve. I think there's a lot of things we have to improve.
On being comfortable using the play call wristband...
It was fine. We worked on it. Delay of game calls, I have to do a better job of those. They don't come up very often, but when they do, they hurt. And they hurt us today.
On Darrelle Revis covering Randy Moss...
I think Revis did a good job and he's a great player and Randy's a player, so we have to find ways to get Randy the ball. I didn't get it to him enough today. Julian (Edelman) filled in for Wes (Welker) and did a nice job. Joey (Galloway) made some nice catches. We have to get back to work and take the positives from the game and learn from the mistakes that we made and move forward because we play a tough Atlanta team next week.
On how effective the Jets blitz was...
It's a good blitz team. They get there and they get home and there's tight coverage. We were trying to get a guy on a guy and sometimes they came free, just scheme wise which is tough and forces us to throw the ball a little bit earlier. We just have to connect more often. I think that's what it comes down to.
On wide receiver Julian Edelman...
Julian's worked hard. He's been out for a couple of weeks with an injury which sets you back a little bit, but he's a tough kid, works really hard. I think he had a good week in practice and he's going to build on this. He made some nice plays out there. He's done a pretty good job for being an ex-quarterback. He's kind of a tough competitor. So when Wes (Welker) gets back it's going to be a good group.
On how comfortable he is now compared to 2007...
I think we're not really firing on all cylinders right now. We have to identify where the issue are and try to correct them. That's most important. But it's a different group, a different year, different defenses, it's a lot of different things. We're trying to execute a lot better than we did today. To not get the ball in the end zone, that is unacceptable. You're not going to win if you don't get the ball in the end zone. We did the same thing last week until five minutes left in the game. We have to do a better job throwing the ball down there in tight quarters. It puts too much pressure on the defense when you don't score touchdowns.
On what has to improve...
I have to do a better job. That's number one for me. I have to do a better job doing what I have to do. That is making reads, making calls, not committing penalties, making accurate throws, making good decisions, getting in the end zone. If you don't get in the end zone, it's not a very good day for a quarterback.
On using wristbands...
Well, we weren't surprised. We worked on it all week, executed it well all week. I don't think the wristband had much to do with our execution. We called the plays, everyone knew the plays, we just weren't huddling. We were getting out there and using a little bit faster tempo than normal, but we just didn't execute very well.
On how much the Jets pressure affected him...
Well, sometimes you let it go sooner and sometimes you're able to hold it and I think it goes all the way around. There were times when I had plenty of time and just missed. There were times when they came with just their pressure package and I held onto it a little too long. You have to recognize the blitz and get the ball out quickly. We got it out quickly, we just didn't complete them.
On the delay of game penalties...
The second one I didn't want to take a time out, so I just let the clock run out and we went back five more (yards) and it was third and 14. The first one, it was just being unaware of the clock.
