As a 22-year-old rookie, Andy Borregales has plenty on his plate each and every week handling the kicking chores for the Patriots. But that hasn't stopped the sixth-round pick and his wife, Stephanie, from thinking about ways to give back to his new community in New England.
When the My Cause My Cleats NFL initiative came around, he knew he would be involved. The problem was, which cause would he choose to represent.
"I've been trying to get involved more with the community since I've been here and I've been searching for something that I can connect with," Borregales said. "Since I'm still new to the community that was one of the biggest things … finding one that fits."
The one he ultimately chose was Team IMPACT, an organization that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved. While more known for its incredible work with college programs, Team IMPACT got on Borregales' radar and the kicker couldn't be more excited.
"I had no experience with Team IMPACT, but I have an idea of what they stand for and what they're doing and I'm completely on board with that," Borregales said. "I decided that I wanted to work together with them.

"I don't think we had a (Team IMPACT) teammate at Miami, or at least I wasn't aware of it, but I would love to be that bridge that connects them with Miami because I feel like that would be a really good fit. I feel like by being a part of this with My Cause My Cleats I might be able to help facilitate that relationship, or build on it, in the future."
The My Cause My Cleats program is an NFL initiative that allows players, coaches and staff to represent organizations that matter the most to them through customized cleats. After Week 13, all of the cleats will be available to buy through NFL Auction with all proceeds going to the respective non-profits.
Despite his youth, this isn't the first foray into charitable work for Borregales. During training camp, the rookie not only took part in the team's pet adoption campaign, but he and Stephanie added to their family by adopting a mixed breed named Georgia – bringing the family's dog total to four.
"This is the one for this year with Team IMPACT and we're excited about it," he added. "I've also sat down with my wife and we're figuring out some causes that we're really passionate about, so we will continue to work together to find one. We have four dogs and we're looking into a cause that could help in that regard. They are really spoiled, and my wife and I are very into the adoption initiative because one of our dogs is actually a rescue. My wife rescued him when he was four days old, just in the middle of the street, so we have a soft spot for dogs."
"This year we're really excited about working with Team IMPACT and looking forward to doing everything we can to help such a great organization in any way we can."
