Falcons release Mitchell

The Atlanta Falcons released defensive end Brandon Mitchell and reached an injury settlement with rookie receiver Derrick Tinsley.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (Aug. 29, 2005) -- The Atlanta Falcons released defensive end Brandon Mitchell and reached an injury settlement with rookie receiver Derrick Tinsley.

The Falcons will make the bulk of their cuts Aug. 30, when teams are required to reduce their rosters to 65 players.

The 30-year-old Mitchell signed with the Falcons in April but never made much of an impact on the defensive line. Originally a second-round pick by New England in 1997, he has played 96 games in his career, making 45 starts.

Mitchell spent the last three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

Tinsley was a rookie free agent from Tennessee.
