The New England Patriots will aim for their eighth straight victory this week when they host the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football at Gillette Stadium. A win against the Jets will give the Patriots a 9-2 record an secure their first winning season since the 2021 season when they finished with a 10-7 record. The Patriots would also improve to a 3-0 record in AFC East Divisional play.
SERIES HISTORY
The New England Patriots and New York Jets will meet for the first of two scheduled 2025 meetings. The Patriots and Jets will meet in a Thursday matchup for the seventh time overall and for the second straight season. Last year, the Patriots traveled to face the Jets in a Thursday game, a 24-3 Jets victory on Sept. 19 at MetLife Stadium. The Patriots got revenge with a 25-22 victory over the Jets in the rematch at Gillette Stadium on Oct. 27.
The Patriots own a 4-2 record against the Jets on Thursday games, including a 2-1 record at Gillette Stadium.
The Jets broke a 15-game losing streak overall in a 17-3 regular season finale win at Gillette Stadium on Jan. 7, 2024. It also broke up a 14-game home winning streak by New England. The teams have split the annual series in each of the last two seasons.
New England leads the series 75-56-1 overall. The Patriots are 39-25-1 in regular season home games against the Jets, including 19-4 at Gillette Stadium.
The teams have played in the postseason three times – a 1985 Wild Card game, a 2006 Wild Card game and an AFC Divisional game in 2010. New England beat the Jets 26-14 in 1985 at the Meadowlands en route to Super Bowl XX. In 2006, the Patriots defeated the Jets 37-16 at Gillette Stadium, and the Jets beat the Patriots 28-21 in the 2010 Divisional playoff game in Foxborough.
New England is 46-18 against the Jets since Robert Kraft purchased the team in 1994, including two postseason games.
New England's 75 overall victories over the Jets (including two playoff wins) are the second-most over any single opponent, trailing only the 80 all-time wins over Buffalo.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
- A win this week against the New York Jets will improve the Patriots' record to 9-2 and their first winning season since 2021 when they finished with a 10-7 record. That would be their 36th winning season since the 1970 merger, second only to the 41 winning seasons by Pittsburgh. It will also mark the 25th winning season in the 32 seasons under the ownership of Robert Kraft.
- Head coach Mike Vrabel has four winning seasons as a head coach with a 9-7 record in 2018, 9-7 record in 2019, 11-5 record in 2020 and a 12-5 record in 2021 while serving as head coach of the Tennessee Titans. He will look to become the sixth Patriots coach to secure a winning record in his first year as head coach.
- The Patriots enter this week with a 3-0 record in the AFC East, and a win this week against the Jets will give them a 4-0 record and the best start in division play since starting with a 5-0 division record against AFC East opponents in 2019.
- A win this week against the Jets will give the Patriots a 9-2 start. The Patriots have started with a 9-2 record or better nine times in team history: 2007 (11-0), 2019, 2015 and 2004 (10-1) and 2017, 2016, 2014, 2010 and 2003 (9-2).
- The 2025 Patriots defense ranks first in the NFL against the run, allowing 79.2 rushing yards per game. The Patriots record for fewest rushing yards allowed since the NFL merger is 88.6 rushing yards per game in 2016.
- With CB Marcus Jones' 87-yard punt return for a touchdown vs. Carolina (9/28) and RB Antonio Gibson's 90-yard kickoff return touchdown at Miami (9/14), it marked the fourth season that the Patriots have returned at least one punt and one kickoff for a touchdown in the same season. The Patriots have also returned both a punt and kick for a touchdown in 1980, 2010 and 2012. Of those seasons, only the 2010 season had three returns for a touchdown. That year, the Patriots returned one punt for a touchdown and two kickoffs for a touchdown. If the Patriots get a touchdown on a return this week vs. the Jets, they can match that season.
- S Brenden Schooler (11), LB Jack Gibbens (10) and LB Christian Elliss (10) have each reached double-digit special teams tackles. It is the first time since the 2022 season that the Patriots have had at least three players reach double-digit special teams tackles. That year, Schooler had 14, WR Matthew Slater had 13 and LB Mack Wilson Sr. had 10. LB Marte Mapu has 7 special teams tackles and needs 3 to join Schooler, Gibbens and Elliss with double-digit special teams tackles. The Patriots have had at least three players reach 10 or more special teams tackles 22 times since 1994. The Patriots have had at least four players finish with 10 or more tackles 14 times, with the last time coming in 2011. The team record since 1994 is from 2003, when eight players finished with at least 10 special teams tackles.
- The Patriots finished with a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver last week at Tampa Bay after RB TreVeyon Henderson gained 147 yards rushing and WR Mack Hollins finished with 106 yards receiving. It is the 33rd time in team history that has happened and the first time since Oct. 9, 2022, vs. Detroit when RB Rhamondre Stevenson had 161 rushing yards and WR Jakobi Meyers had 111 receiving yards. If the Patriots finish with a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver this week against the Jets, it will be the first time they have had back-to-back games with a 100-yard rusher and 100-yard receiver since the 2012 season with WR Wes Welker (129), TE Rob Gronkowski (104) and RB Brandon Bolden (137) at Buffalo on Sept. 30 and Welker (104) and RB Stevan Ridley (151) vs. Denver on Oct. 7.

THE NOR'EASTER UNIFORM
The New England Patriots will debut a new alternate uniform for this week's game in their rivalry matchup against the New York Jets - The Nor'Easter Uniform. Created with the power and unpredictability of a New England storm in mind, the Nor'easter uniform blends the region's natural history elements, rich maritime history and football tradition into a bold, future-forward design. Subtle design elements throughout the uniform connect New England's past, present and future:
- Six stars on the uniform represent the six New England states.
- A new "NE" shoulder logo, inspired by nautical lettering and compass points, underscores the unique nature of the Patriots as the only team to represent an entire region.
- Jersey numbers pull their vertical striping and mesh-like design from the iconic 1990s Patriots uniforms, evoking memories of Bledsoe-era battles.
- Shoulder and pant stripes carry a subtle netting pattern, an homage to the working harbors that define the New England coast.
- The matte white helmet reminds us of snow; the metallic silver facemask reflects the icy cold that defines the regions winters.
- Small pops of red offer a quiet connection back to the team's traditional color palette.
Inside every collar, a reminder that through every storm, We Are All Patriots.
