Light Visits Westmoreland Elementary School

Patriots tackle Matt Light accompanies two Westmoreland students to school as part of Shaw's Supermarket and Pepsi Beverages Company Promotion.

Westmoreland, N.H. - February 15, 2011 - Two Westmoreland Elementary School students had quite a contribution to Show and Tell today. On Feb.15, students Ross and Callie O'Neil went to school like every other day, except they were joined by New England Patriots Tackle Matt Light as their guest of honor for a special school assembly.

The students' mother, Lisa O'Neil, was the winner of the "Score a Patriot for your Kid's Class" promotion sponsored by the New England Patriots, Shaw's Supermarket and Frito-Lay, Quaker Oats, and Pepsi Beverages Company - all divisions of PepsiCo. The promotion ran from Sept. 17 through Oct. 7. Lisa delivered the exciting news to Ross and Callie on Christmas morning.

"We're huge Patriot fans, so we feel very fortunate to have won this opportunity, not only for ourselves, but for the entire Westmoreland School and community," said Lisa.

Light met Ross and Callie at their school, and was the guest of honor at an assembly for the entire school. Light met with the student body and participated in a question and answer session to discuss his NFL career, his role with the Patriots and their 2010 winning season.

"These are the type of moments that kids will remember for years to come," said Kiran Smith, director of marketing at Shaw's. "We are fortunate to have great partnerships with the Patriots and PepsiCo to make these types of events happen in our local communities."

"We are proud to have such strong partnerships with Shaw's and the Patriots that help make programs like this possible," said Eric Farias, Pepsi Beverages Company key account manager. "Events like this articulate our commitment to the communities in which we live and work, and are consistent with PepsiCo's Performance with Purpose mission. We're glad we could contribute to such a fun experience."

Each year, Pepsi Beverages Company and Shaw's Supermarkets combine efforts, and use their respective partnerships with the New England Patriots to develop fun and engaging promotions for consumers. The "Score a Patriot for your Kid's Class" promotion was sponsored by Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Quaker, Shaw's and the Patriots in a demonstration of their shared commitments to local New England communities.
