FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots are proud to announce that cornerback Marcus Jones has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October, recognizing his many contributions to the team's success throughout the month. It is the first Player of the Month honor for the Patriots since the 2021 season when J.C. Jackson was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month for November.
Jones helped New England finish the month of October with a perfect 4-0 record and his 8 passes defensed during the month are tied for the most in the NFL. He is one of three defensive backs since 2000 with a tackle for a loss and a pass defensed in four straight games. Jones recorded 20 tackles, 1 sack, 2 interceptions and 8 passes defensed over the last four games for New England, whose defense is currently ranked 4th in the NFL in points allowed and 9th overall.
It is the fourth time in 2025 that the Patriots have been awarded an NFL player honor. In addition to Jones' AFC Player of the Month award, he also earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in Week 4 vs. Carolina. Running back Antonio Gibson (AFC Special Teams Player of the Week at Miami in Week 2) and LB K'Lavon Chaisson (AFC Defensive Player of the WeeK at Tennessee in Week 7) were also honored for their performances.
