Despite it being a holiday weekend there was still some news emanating from Foxborough. Unfortunately for the Patriots, it wasn't good.

Tight end Benjamin Watson announced via his Facebook post that he will be serving a four-game suspension to open the season due to violating the leagueā€™s substance abuse policy.

Watson explained that he informed the Patriots that the suspension would be coming before he signed, but that does little to alleviate the concerns at tight end. The Patriot Ledger says the Watson news leaves the Patriots in a tight spot.

ESPN.com offers their weekly notes column with an update on former Patriots wideout Chris Hogan.

Otherwise it was a very Bruins weekend in Boston with several Patriots lending their support as the Stanley Cup finals got underway Monday night. Tom Brady and Bruins captain Zdeno Chara made an Instagram video and many other Patriots got in the hype game as well.

Elsewhere, Boston Sports Journal has some updates on third-round rookie Chase Winovich.
