Packers, Driver agree to contract extension

Wide receiver Donald Driver has signed a two-year contract extension with the Green Bay Packers, his agent confirmed. Agent Jordan Woy said it was a four-year deal.

MILWAUKEE (May 11, 2006) -- Wide receiver Donald Driver has signed a two-year contract extension with the Green Bay Packers, his agent confirmed.

Agent Jordan Woy said it was a four-year deal. The 31-year-old Driver had two years left on his previous contract.

Packers general manager Ted Thompson wouldn't confirm the extension but praised Driver.

"Donald's a fine player, a real pro, and we're glad he's going to be here a little longer," Thompson said in a telephone interview.

Driver has been Brett Favre's most reliable target over the past four seasons. He made the Pro Bowl after the 2002 season.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette first reported Driver's contract extension on its Web site.

Driver led the team last season with 86 catches for 1,221 yards and five touchdowns.
