Patriots.com News Blitz - 3/1/2010

In today's Patriots.com News Blitz... Four Belichick disciples pick before the Patriots.

With four Belichick disciples (Thomas Dimitroff (Falcons), Josh McDaniels (Broncos), Eric Mangini (Browns), Scott Pioli (Chiefs) ) slated to pick before the Patriots in the upcoming NFL Draft in April could one of these teams play the spoiler for what the Patriots coach has in mind? The *Boston Herald *offers a piece today discussing this point.

The Boston Herald also writes that though the Patriots still don't know what they will ultimately have in return for Richard Seymour. In Tom Cable's mind, however, the Raiders didn't lose out on that deal.

"I think (he was worth it) if you look at what he brought to our team: The ability of opponents, or lack there of, to run at him on that side of the line of scrimmage," Cable said. "We'd like to see a little more pass rush out of him, which he'd probably be the first to tell you that.

"With all those things considered, yeah, definitely. If you can get that out of a first-round pick, you've done yourself (well)."

NESN.com offers a continuing series of articles which profile each of Bill Belichick's draft performances at the Patriots head coach. Today's piece takes a look at the 2004 draft class, in which nose tackle Vince Wilfork was drafted in the first round.

The Boston Herald profiles several cornerback prospects that they feel could be potential Patriots.

Should the Patriots Retire Mosi Tatupu's No. 30? Be sure to check out a piece on NESN.com that makes the argument. Fans can chime in with their comments.
