Report: Patriots agree to contract with wide reciever Dwight...

USA Today is reporting the Patriots have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent wideout Tim Dwight. Dwight, one of the league's fastest players, played last season for San Diego, but injuries limited him to four games. Dwight, a former Iowa track star, could possibly return kicks or punts for the Patriots next season. Also in the USA Today round-up is a report the Denver Broncos have matched an offer sheet the New York Jets extended to Jeb Putzier, keeping the talented tight end out of the AFC East.

The Providence Journal's NFL Notebook reports quarterback Brett Favre will return to the Green Bay Packers in 2005. Favre's return was in question throughout the offseason, but it was announced yesterday the future Hall-of-Famer would resume his post for at least another year. Also according to the notebook, Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch will be presented his Cadillac on Monday during a presentation at Herb Chambers Cadillac in Providence.

John Clayton of ESPN.com examines the phenomenon of free agents who play high-profile positions getting scooped up immediately, often at inflated prices.
