With the official announcement of Richard Seymour's signing, the Patriots also anounced the release of fullback Larry Bowie.

Bowie, 28, was signed by New England as a free agent on Feb. 1. Since he came in, the team added Marc Edwards, who is expected to be the starter. The Patriots also moved second-year man Patrick Pass to fullback and had Jeff Paulk on its roster.

Bowie signed with the Washington Redskins as a rookie free agent in 1996. He spent four seasons with the Redskins and gained 108 yards on 32 carries, but his career fell off track after he suffered a broken fibula in 1998. He played just two games in 1999 and was out of football in 2000.
