FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced the release of first-year quarterback Shane Stafford today.
Stafford, 27, recently completed his season with the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe, where he completed 47 of 78 passes for 589 yards and 8 touchdowns in reserve duty. The 6-foot-3-inch, 210-pound product from the University of Connecticut was signed by the Patriots on Jan. 6, 2003 and allocated to the Claymores. He was one of eight Patriots players to play in the league this spring.
