Patriots sign rookie punter Danny Baugher to practice squad

The New England Patriots signed rookie punter Danny Baugher to their practice squad today. Baugher, 22, was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2006 and was released by the Bengals on July 30.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed rookie punter Danny Baugher to their practice squad today.

Baugher, 22, was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2006 and was released by the Bengals on July 30. The 5-foot-10-inch, 194-pound punter attended the University of Arizona, where he was one of three finalists for the Ray Guy award as the nation's top punter as a senior in 2005. That season he earned first-team All-America honors from Pro Football Weekly and third-team All-America recognition from the Associated Press. In his four seasons at Arizona (2002-05), Baugher recorded school records with 225 punts and 9,476 yards, averaging 42.1 yards per punt for his college career. His last name is pronounced "BAHG-er".
