Foxborough, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced the signing of safety Victor Green today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Green, 32, has totaled 964 tackles (607 solos), including eight sacks during his 10-year career. He has recorded 24 career interceptions for 529 return yards and two touchdowns. He has played in every one of the 139 career games since entering the NFL in 1993 and has started in 108 consecutive contests.
The 5-foot-11-inch, 210-pound safety led all defensive backs on the New York Jets during the 2001 season with 114 tackles (69 solos). Green also finished second on the team with three interceptions, including a 63-yard return for a touchdown. He has eclipsed the 100-tackle mark six times during his career, including a career-high 207 tackles (113 solos) in 1996. Green concluded his Jets career with 24 interceptions and is tied for third on their all-time interception list. He established a career-high with six interceptions during the 2000 season.
