            Bad news, Patriots fans. If the Patriots are to win Super Bowl XXXVIII, they will need to overcome an 8-0 win streak.

Steve Smith beat Troy Brown in the 989 Sports NFL GameDay 2004, 29-21. Since 989 Sports has been staging this video contest between players of the two Super Bowl teams, the winner's team has gone on to win the Super Bowl.

Eight times in a row.

In 2002, Brown beat the Rams Isaac Bruce. In 1997, Edgar Bennett of the Packers beat Terry Glenn. We all know the results of both those Super Bowls.

Have no fear. Chalk up this temporary setback in the same column as all the injuries the Patriots had to overcome this season.

Still, Patriots Nation might need a little console consoling right now.
