Report: NE eyes WR Burress

The Patriots will work out free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress, according to an ESPN report today.

The move could simply be routine. Teams often have players in for workouts to decide if they should be added to a so-called "emergency list" — a go-to list of potential players to sign in the event of a sudden need at any particular position.

However, the Patriots could also be interested in adding to their roster, even at the crowded receiver area. Veteran Deion Branch sat out the preseason opener versus New Orleans, even though he's dressed for recent practices.
