Report: Reggie Wayne a Patriot

According to ESPN, Reggie Wayne and the Patriots have agreed on a one-year deal.

The Patriots wide receiver corps has been banged up throughout camp and on Monday the team did something about it. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who cites a source, New England reached an agreement with Reggie Wayne on a one-year deal.

Wayne, who will turn 37 in November, will compete for a depth role in New England, where Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell, Aaron Dobson and Brian Tyms have all missed significant time this summer. Also, veteran Brandon Gibson, who was enjoying a strong camp, went down late in the Saints game with an apparent knee injury, leaving his status uncertain.

There were reports earlier in the day that the Packers were interested in the veteran after losing Jordy Nelson during their preseason game with the Steelers on Sunday but evidently he'll be a Patriot instead.

Wayne has enjoyed a Hall of Fame career with 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns during his time in Indianapolis. He's been to six Pro Bowls and was named first-team All-Pro once.
