WR Williamson to miss Vikings minicamp

Receiver Troy Williamson had an abscess removed from his left hip this week and will not participate in the Minnesota Vikings ' mini-camp May 12-14, coach Brad Childress said.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (May 10, 2006) -- Receiver Troy Williamson had an abscess removed from his left hip this week and will not participate in the Minnesota Vikings ' mini-camp May 12-14, coach Brad Childress said.

Childress said the infection was in the area of a skin graft Williamson received when he was 10 years old after he was severely burned in an accident.

Williamson, the Vikings' top draft choice in 2005, participated in the first veteran mini-camp last month and Childress said he expects him to be ready for training camp when it opens in late July.
