From the Hart: Wednesday walkthrough thoughts

Andy Hart offers his thoughts from the Patriots walkthrough as the team prepares to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Prior to boarding buses and a plane to get to Tampa Bay for the second preseason game against the Bucs, the Patriots just completed a walkthrough on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium.

Players attended in a variety of dress from full hooded sweatshirts and pants (despite the bright sun and hot weather, not sure what Darius Butler and Jerod Mayo were thinking!) to various colored t-shirts (really, yellow Bret Lockett?), hats and shorts. Players did not wear jerseys, and some guys even wore sweats with numbers on them that were not their own. Therefore, actual attendance of the walkthrough was nearly impossible to any degree of certainty (especially for those of us lacking binoculars!).

As a general observation of those in attendance, it seemed that the group likely made up what would be the team's travel party for Thursday night's game. Given that, the most notable absence may have been left tackle Matt Light. Since being activated from PUP, the Pro Bowler has done more and more each practice. He took reps with the first team offensive line over the last couple practices, rotating with Nate Solder at left tackle. With Light not on the field for the walkthrough, it would seem unlikely he'll to make his preseason debut in Tampa and that will likely wait until Aug. 27 in Detroit.

Beyond that the walkthrough consisted of the usual rundown of all the scenarios that could come up in the game and the personnel groupings that will be used in those areas.
