Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com believes that the Patriots may look to sign a defensive tackle following the release of Kyle Love. Currently, Reiss views the Patriots defensive tackle depth chart as follows: Vince Wilfork, Tommy Kelly, Armond Armstead, Marcus Forston, Cory Grissom, Dewayne Cherrington, and Joe Vellano.

"It was clear that Love was going to face increased competition for a roster spot with the free-agent additions of veteran Tommy Kelly and Canadian Football League import Armond Armstead," adds Reiss. "So if Love didn't make the roster coming out of training camp, it wouldn't have necessarily been a 'didn't-see-that-coming' shocker."

Christopher Price of WEEI.com also takes a look at the defensive tackle depth chart. He too believes that Tommy Kelly and Armond Armstead could be in line for significant roles in 2013.

"Armstead is a CFL export who brings some pass rushing skills to the table (he had six sacks last season with Toronto) while Kelly is a veteran defensive lineman who has also shown an ability to get after the passer. (He had a combined 14.5 sacks in 2011 and 2010.)," writes Price.

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports that Kyle Love was unable to participate in offseason workout programs with the Patriots due to a recent diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes. Manza Young notes that Love dropped close to 30 pounds in a short period of time.

"Kyle is going to be at 100 percent within a matter of weeks," stated Love's agent Richard Kopelman. "Barring something out of the ordinary, he should be ready to go for training camp, and he'll continue to be successful."

Kyle Love (@KyleLove74) went to Twitter yesterday to thank the Patriots and their fans for his time in New England. Love tweeted: "Wanna thank the pats for everything much love!"
