News Blitz 9/30: Garoppolo getting closer

Friday has arrived and the majority of the preparations for Sunday's game between the Patriots and Bills is pretty finished, but there are still plenty of questions. The most important one for New England remains who will plkay quarterback?

The Boston Globe says that signs are good for a Jimmy Garoppolo return this weekend.

The Boston Herald says Logan Ryan is growing in importance for the Patriots. MassLive.com agrees and says it's all about Ryan's study habits. The notebook leads with news of LeGarrette Blount's AFC Offensive Player of the Month Award. The Providence Journal says fullback James Develin has been a huge part of Blount's success and the overall improvement in the running game.

Patriots newcomer John Hughes III is trying to get up to speed with his new team. Shaq Mason drew some praise from Bill Belichick for his block that helped spring Blount on a late touchdown to cap the blowout win over the Texans.

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was the subject of an in-depth feature on Bleacher Report and MassLive.com summarizes the piece well. CSNNE.com believes McDaniels' stint as OC is likely winding down.

The Buffalo News offers a scouting report of Sunday's showdown.

Looking back, ESPNBoston.com notes that it's the 15th anniversary of Tom Brady's first-career start back in 2001.
