FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Patriots Gridiron Grillers, the New England Patriots' new line of packaged grilling meats, are in stores now, just in time for kickoff of the Patriots' regular season.
This weekend, backyard grillers can buy "Sack Attack Sausages," "First Down Franks" and "Patriots Beer Brats" at stores throughout New England for one of the busiest grilling weekends of the year. And with the Patriots' 2006 regular season opener now just nine days away, soon-to-be tailgaters are encouraged to stock up on the Patriots' officially branded meats in time for next weekend's season opener against the Buffalo Bills on September 10. While kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., all tailgaters know that means that grilling officially starts shortly after the lots open at 9:00 a.m. Patriots Gridiron Grillers will also be served at Gillette Stadium concession stands throughout the season.
Shortly after the Patriots Gridiron Grillers were introduced last month, the Boston Globe ran an independent taste taste among young fans and the Patriots' First Down Beef Franks defeated the Oscar Mayer Wiener and Fenway Franks in their independent taste test.
"We began serving the Patriots Gridiron Grillers at Gillette Stadium during the preseason and they are already a fan favorite," said David Wheeler, executive director of food and beverage for Gillette Stadium. "We are really happy with the selection of meats. They are packed with flavor and the early response to the product has been terrific. I think our tailgaters are really going to enjoy taking credit for the flavor. "
