Patriots sign RB Danny Woodhead

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed RB Danny Woodhead today. Terms of the contract were not announced.

Woodhead, 5-9, 195 pounds, originally signed with the New York Jets as a rookie free agent out of Chadron State on May 2, 2008. After spending his rookie season on injured reserve with an injury that was suffered in training camp, he began the 2009 season on the practice squad before being signed to the 53-man roster. Woodehead played in 10 games for the Jets last season, finishing with 15 rushing attempts for 64 yards and eight receptions for 87 yards. He also played in two postseason games and had one reception for one yard.

Woodhead played in the 2010 season-opener for the Jets before being waived on Sept. 14.
