Foxboro, Mass.-The New England Patriots announced that they have signed defensive end Saul Patu to their practice squad today.
Patu, 23, was originally signed by the New York Jets as a rookie free agent following the 2001 NFL draft. He spent the 2001 preseason with the Jets, but was released on Sept. 2, 2001. The 6-foot-3-inch, 272 pound defensive end finished his Oregon career with 167 tackles, including 26.5 sacks and 53 tackles for losses.
