Foxborough, Mass.- The Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots will launch a new weekly show geared towards children and families, called "Totally Patriots." The show will be hosted by former CBS4 news anchor Kerry Connolly. It will launch on Sunday, September 18 on WCVB-TV and air every Sunday at 11:00 a.m., immediately after the Emmy Award-winning "Patriots All Access."
"I'm so excited about hosting 'Totally Patriots,'" said Connolly. "There are so many young Patriots fans out there. This show is just for them. The commitment for this new venture from the organization towards young Patriots fans is tremendous."
The program will provide a fun, feature-oriented, behind-the-scenes look at the New England Patriots. It will also offer fitness, football and cheering tips for aspiring young players and cheerleaders.
"Based upon the popularity of 'Patriots All Access' and the number of young fans, we realized there was an appetite for a show geared towards the kids," said Matt Smith, executive producer for the show. "We're very excited about the new show. It's truly an insider look at the team, the players and what goes on behind-the-scenes at Gillette Stadium. It's a show for both kids and parents who love the Patriots and love football."
Highlighting the program will be a weekly "Pats Chat," an in-studio forum with a Patriot player and 25-30 students from local schools. The player will field a variety of questions from the class about football, adolescence and life as a professional athlete.
The show will also feature a weekly "What's On Your Playlist" segment, giving fans a look at the musical tastes of their favorite players. Patriots Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Harold Nash will offer fitness and nutrition tips in the "Get Fit" segment, while Patriots Hall of Famer Andre Tippett will offer football instruction in the weekly "Football Tips from Tip" segment.
Additionally, the show will feature behind-the-scenes looks at the NFL, a geography-based fun fact segment and a contest for aspiring young journalists to win the chance to interview Patriots players at home games.
In addition to spotlighting the Patriots, the show will highlight local youth football teams and pep squads. Each week, one team will be featured for their outstanding performance and dedication to the community. Students will also have the opportunity to earn college scholarship money during a special portion of the show called "Fantasy Forecast."
Totally Patriots will air every Sunday from 11:00-11:30 a.m. on WCVB-TV, Channel 5.
