The news of Philadelphia's releasing of former Patriots safety Jarrad Page immediately got the wheels turning. Page is by no means a star but he showed some promise last season during his only time in New England. At this stage, I believe he'd qualify as the team's best safety other than Patrick Chung and I'd have to strongly consider bringing him back to add some quality depth to the equation.
Page signed with the Eagles as an unrestricted free agent but inked a one-year deal worth $735,000 including a modest $50,000 signing bonus. I think it would be wise to jump in and claim Page off waivers, assuming the remainder of that relatively low-cost deal. I understand that Page lost his starting job in Philadelphia several weeks ago and I'm not aware of the particulars that went into that decision, but adding a safety with knowledge of the system given the injury problems int he secondary seems to make sense.
