Quick Kicks: Cowboys-Patriots pre-game thoughts

Erik Scalavino offers a preview for the Patriots game against the Cowboys.

… New England's running game got good news when both BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead were able to go in pre-game warmups. Without them, the Patriots would have had to rely on two rookies for their ground game. We'll still probably see a good amount of Stevan Ridley, and perhaps our first glimpse of Shane Vereen, too. Vereen was out extremely early warming up on his own.

… Though both are active, Cowboys WRs Dez Bryant (thigh) and Miles Austin (hammy) were out here for quite a while running routes with QB Tony Romo throwing to them. Something that bears watching throughout this game, if both can make it through the entire 60 minutes.

… With the Patriots' safety position already thin, the loss of Josh Barrett (thumb/hammy) and Sergio Brown (chest) today means we'll likely see a lot of Ross Ventrone against Dallas.

… Winds could be a factor today in the passing and kicking games, though right now, the flags on the goalposts are hanging straight down.
