Quick Kicks: Jets-Patriots pre-game observations

Erik Scalavino offers a preview to today's game against the New York Jets.

… Good news for New England getting Aaron Hernandez, Leigh Bodden, Ras-I Dowling, and Albert Haynesworth back. Hernandez could be pivotal over the middle if Darrelle Revis shadows Wes Welker.

… I was already concerned about Jets TE Dustin Keller, but with Josh Barrett out for the Patriots, that concern is heightened. I thought Barrett's size made him the best match-up versus the Patriots killer Keller.

… With no Julian Edelman available today either, Deion Branch was out early with the special teamers returning punts.

… Spied LB Dane Fletcher warming up earlier without a cast. First time I'd seen his right hand free of that medical accessory in the last several weeks. He now has a glove on that hand with a heavy wrap job over his injured thumb.

… Hernandez is now on the field and doesn't look entirely comfortable with the large brace on his left knee. Appears to be favoring that leg ever so slightly.

… No Danny Woodhead could mean we see rookie Shane Vereen get some action finally.
