Quick Kicks: Thu. 12-15 Practice/Locker Room Notebook

Erik Scalavino offers his Thursday practice notes as the Patriots prepare to play the Denver Broncos.

… Overcast skies and scattered showers didn't keep discourage the Patriots from practicing outside again on their double outdoor practice fields. Players were in shells, helmets, and sweats for their second workout of Broncos Week.

… Right tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back/right foot) remains out of commission, as does safety Patrick Chung (right foot), who has missed his second consecutive practice.

… There were no changes to New England's injury report. QB Tom Brady and d-tackle Vince Wilfork were limited in practice again, but for non-injury reasons; 13 other Patriots were limited, however, because of various conditions: CB Kyle Arrington (foot), wide receiver Deion Branch (groin), C Dan Connolly (groin), WR/DB/returner Julian Edelman (back), LB Dane Fletcher (right thumb), S James Ihedigbo (shoulder), cornerback Devin McCourty (right shoulder), WR Matthew Slater (shoulder), LB Brandon Spikes (right knee), rookie RB Shane Vereen (hamstring), WR Wes Welker (knee) center Ryan Wendell (calf), and RB Danny Woodhead (abdomen).

… Out in Colorado, Broncos starting safety Brian Dawkins (neck) and cornerback Andre Goodman (concussion) returned to practice after missing Wednesday's workout. Starting wideout Eddie Royal (concussion) was back to full participation after being limited yesterday.

UPDATE … 4:20 P.M.

… The Patriots released rookie DB Malcolm Williams after practice today, freeing up a spot on the 53-man roster.
