Release: Arlington Catholic High School's Serge Clivio named HS Coach of the Week by the Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Arlington Catholic High School's Serge Clivio has been named the New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week in recognition of his program's undefeated start to the 2003 season.

On Thursday, October 9, the Cougars beat Austin Prep High School for the first time in 10 years. During the previous week, Arlington Catholic beat cross-town rival Arlington High for the first time in the eight-year history of the series. The Cougars are now 4-0.

Clivio has been the head coach of Arlington Catholic's football program for the past 13 years.

"Serge is a unique man," Arlington Catholic Athletic Director Dan Shine said. "He combines the physical, hard-hitting aspects of football, with the compassionate and just nature of the theology teacher. He is really an asset to Arlington Catholic."

This season marks the eighth year in which the Patriots have joined the National Football League in conducting the High School Coach of the Week program, which recognizes outstanding high school coaches and promotes youth football. Each week during the season, the Patriots will honor a coach from the New England area as the Coach of the Week.

The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to the Arlington Catholic High School's Football Program in Clivio's name in recognition of his selection as Coach of the Week.

The Patriots High School Coach of the Week is selected by a panel including representatives of the Patriots and WCVB Channel 5, which airs the team's weekly magazine show, Patriots All Access, on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. WCVB sports anchor Mike Lynch is the host of the show. Lynch will present Clivio with the Coach of the Week honors on this week's show.
