BREAKDOWN: Certainly the Patriots will keep more than two running backs but heading into camp it's difficult to determine exactly which ones are safe. Perhaps this will lead to one of the more hotly contested battles of the summer. Blount has the most experience of the "lead back" types, and last year Bill Belichick favored him over Gray down the stretch. He's also serving a one-game suspension to open the season so the opening night roster will be fluid. Bolden does a little of everything and it would not be surprising to see him featured in the opener without Blount. Gray and Gaffney could be vying for a spot behind Blount, and one or both could also emerge as a regular contributor as well. Neither has enough playing time to make that call prior to camp. The remaining trio is more in the Shane Vereen mold as pass catchers, and all three displayed good hands during the spring. White is probably the most well-rounded while Cadet's receiving skills give him a leg up on Lewis, who may be the odd man out.
