SBLIII: Blitzing QBs may not be way to go

According to the NFL's Next Gen Stats, both quarterbacks have fared well against the blitz this season.

ATLANTA – There are stats for virtually every situation in all sports nowadays and the Super Bowl matchup offers a number of options. The NFL's Next Gen Stats provided an interesting one when it comes to the quarterbacks in Sunday's showdown.

Both Tom Brady and Jared Goff have excelled against the blitz this season , both finishing in the top 10. Including the playoffs, Brady's 105.6 passer rating was sixth-best in the league while Goff's 100.8 rating was good for ninth.

Here are some Next Gen stats focusing on the quarterbacks for Sunday:

-The Patriots have allowed the lowest completion percentage (49.8) and the lowest yards per attempt (5.5) on blitzes this season. New England allowed a 76.9 passer rating on blitzes, which is eight-lowest in the NFL.
