News Blitz 3/6: NFL coaches expect Brady to roll on

Today’s Patriots.com News Blitz includes plenty of opposing coaches expecting another great season from Tom Brady in 2018.

Tom Brady's age and level of play are going to be a major NFL storyline until the day the G.O.A.T. decides to walk away from the game.

Based on his own timetable, that means another five years or so of us all keeping track of TB12's race against Father Time.

According to coaches that have to deal with the reigning NFL MVP's success on the field, there is very little expectation that Brady's on-field production is going to slow down any time soon.

The *Boston Herald *quotes a number of coaches at the NFL Combine saying they don’t expect Brady to regress at the age of 41 this coming season.

"I don't think you'll see a drop-off," Chiefs coach Andy Reid told the Herald. "He takes care of himself. He's one of these unique characters in this profession that make it so great. Shoot, I hope he plays til he's 50. Whatever he wants to do. He deserves the right to do it."

The Providence Journal says that veteran defensive tackle Alan Branch’s days with the Patriots appear to be numbered. The ProJo also looks at Joe Cardona and Deatrich Wise giving back to their New England community.

ESPNBoston.com tries to assess the free agent market that Malcolm Butler might expect in a little over a week and concludes that the former Pro Bowl cornerback probably isn’t going to get the big payday that many had projected previously. ESPNBoston.com notes Bill Belichick making a surprise appearance on the NFL Network broadcast at the Combine.

WEEI.com's takeaways from the Combine includes analysis of Josh McDaniels' notable absence.

NBCSports.com wonders if Belichick listening to anyone any more, whether there is anyone with the Patriots with what it takes to challenge the Hall of Fame coach's decisions.

NBCSports.com also thinks this year's draft class of quarterbacks may be a bit overrated.

NFL.com lists Patriots left tackle Nate Solder among those who could be in for a huge payday in free agency, saying “Solder is easily the best starting free-agent tackle available in a league thirsty for pass protectors.”

NESN.com has a post-Combine Patriots mock draft, with New England taking Boise State outside linebacker Leighton Vander Esch in the first round.
