Patriots re-sign LS Danny Aiken and LB Chris White

The New England Patriots have announced the following transactions on Thursday, September 4, 2014.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. –The New England Patriots announced that they have re-signed LSDanny Aikenand LBChris Whiteto the 53-man roster and re-signed QBMcLeod Bethel-Thompson** to the practice squad.

Aiken, 26, was released by the Patriots on the final cut-down on Aug. 30, 2014. He was claimed off waivers and awarded to the Patriots from the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 4, 2011. The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder originally signed with Buffalo as a rookie free agent out of Virginia on July 28, 2011. He was released by Buffalo on Sept. 3, 2011. Aiken has handled all of the long snapping duties in 48 games and seven postseason games for New England.

White, 25, was released by the Patriots on Aug. 31, 2014. He is a veteran of three NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2011-12) and the Patriots (2013). The 6-foot-3, 238-pounder, was claimed off waivers and awarded to the Patriots from Detroit on Sept. 1, 2013. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (169th overall) by Buffalo out of Mississippi State in 2011. He was traded by Buffalo to Detroit in a trade for QB Thad Lewis on Aug. 25, 2013. White was released by Detroit on Aug. 31, 2013. Last season, White played in 16 games and finished with one tackle on defense and nine special teams tackles.

Bethel-Thompson, 26, is a third-year player out of Sacramento State, who has been with Miami (2011), Minnesota (2012-2013) and San Francisco (2013). He was signed to the Patriots practice squad on Sept. 1, 2014. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder, was originally signed by San Francisco on July 28, 2011, as a rookie free agent.
