Patriots trade OT Grant Williams to St. Louis Rams

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The New England Patriots announced that they have traded veteran offensive tackle Grant Williams in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice.

Williams, 28, was originally signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on March 17, 2000 after four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. The 6-foot-7-inch, 320-pound offensive tackle appeared in 29 regular season games in two seasons, starting eight games at right tackle and four games at left tackle. He appeared in each of the Patriots three playoff games, including the Patriots' Super Bowl XXXVI victory over the Rams.

He originally signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a rookie free agent out of Louisiana Tech on April 22, 1996. In six seasons, Williams has started 35 of 85 regular season games.
