The New England Patriots earned their first victory of the season last week with a 33-27 win at Miami. The Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers both enter the contest this week with 1-1 records and have an opportunity to get over the .500 mark with a win. The Patriots have won the last three meetings against the Steelers, including a 21-18 win at Pittsburgh on Dec. 7, 2023 in a Thursday Night Football game in the last meeting.

PATRIOTS IN THROWBACKS AT HOME
The Patriots will wear throwback uniforms this week for the first time this season. The uniforms are based on the ones worn from 1984-1992 and then sporadically from 1994-2012 as an alternate uniform. The Patriots will wear red jerseys with white pants and a white helmet featuring the "Pat Patriot" logo with white facemasks. The Patriots are 7-5 when wearing throwback uniforms at home. New England has worn uniforms featuring the old "Pat Patriot" logo at home 12 times since switching to the current logo in 1993.
SERIES HISTORY
The Patriots and Steelers will meet for the first time since the Patriots traveled to Pittsburgh for a Thursday Night Football game on Dec. 7, 2023, a 21-18 Patriots win. Pittsburgh will travel to Gillette Stadium for the first time the opening day of the 2019 season when New England took a 33-3 victory on Sept. 8, 2019. Since 2000, New England is 14-4 against Pittsburgh, including the postseason, and the Patriots are 6-1 all-time against the Steelers at Gillette Stadium.
This week's matchup will mark the 36th meeting overall. The series is tied, 15-15, in the regular season, while New England leads 4-1 in the postseason. The Patriots are 5-4 in home games against Pittsburgh and 2-0 in home postseason games against the Steelers.
The teams played in the AFC Championship Game during the 2001, 2004 and 2016 playoffs, with the Patriots winning each time en route to Super Bowl titles. The teams also met in the 1996 and 1997 Divisional Playoffs. The Patriots defeated Pittsburgh, 28-3, at Foxboro Stadium en route to their Super Bowl XXXI appearance. Pittsburgh beat New England the following season, 7-6, at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Patriots' first regular season home game at Gillette Stadium was a season-opening 28-21 win on Sept. 9, 2002, against Pittsburgh.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR THIS WEEK
- The Patriots scored 33 points at Miami last week. If they generate at least 30 points this week against Pittsburgh, it will be their first back-to-back games with at least 30 points since the 2020 season when they scored 30 both in a 35-30 loss at Seattle (9/20) and then in a 36-20 win vs. Las Vegas (9/27).
- A win this week against Pittsburgh will give the Patriots their first two-game winning streak since the 2022 season when they beat Detroit, 29-0, on Oct. 9 and then won at Cleveland, 38-15, on Oct. 16.
- The Patriots have held their opponents under 100 yards rushing in each of the first two games of the season with 60 yards allowed vs. Las Vegas and 61 yards at Miami. It is the second year in a row that the Patriots have held their first two opponents under 100 yards. If the Patriots hold the Steelers to under 100 yards rushing this week, it will be the first time starting the year holding the opponent under 100 yards rushing in the first three games since 2019 when the Patriots allowed 32 yards rushing vs Pittsburgh, 42 yards at Miami and 36 yards vs. the New York Jets.
- The Patriots followed a 4-sack game in the season-opener vs. Las Vegas with 5 sacks at Miami. The most sacks the Patriots had in the first three games of the season were 18 in 1979.
- The Patriots have an NFL-leading 9 sacks in the first two games of the season. The Patriots record for most sacks in a season is 66 in 1963 when they averaged 4.7 sacks per game. The Patriots finished last in the NFL in sacks in 2024 with 28 total sacks.

HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
Patriots fans can celebrate when the team hosts their 2025 Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremonies for Julian Edelman and Bill Parcells. The ceremonies will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. ET on the Patriot Place Plaza, just outside the Patriots Hall of Fame presented by RTX. The event is free and open to the public, and fans of all ages are encouraged to attend and celebrate two of the most iconic Patriots in franchise history. The event will also be streamed live on Patriots.com and Patriots social accounts. Edelman was selected by a fan vote as the 37th inductee into the Patriots Hall of Fame on May 5. Edelman spent his entire 12-year NFL career with the Patriots after being selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Kent State. He ranks second in team history with 620 receptions, fourth with 6,822 receiving yards, and ninth with 36 receiving touchdowns. On April 1, Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft named Parcells a 2025 Hall of Fame inductee as a contributor. Parcells served as head coach of the Patriots from 1993 to 1996, helping restore credibility and competitive success to a struggling franchise.
