Tom Brady is the GOAT.

But Patrick Mahomes is the current IT guy among NFL QBs.

The first-year Chiefs starter has been making plays with his strong arm and impressive athleticism, leading Kansas City to the 5-0 start as they prepare to take on the Patriots Sunday night at Gillette Stadium.

The Boston Globe writes about Bill Belichick praising Mahomes’ many strengths during the coach's Columbus Day conference call with the local media. The Globe also wonders if the Chiefs suspect defense will be able to slow down the Patriots productive Sony Michel-led rushing attack. The Globe also observes that the Patriots will be trying to avoid turnovers against the Chiefs after Kansas City had five "takeaways" against the Jaguars.

The Boston Herald notes that Belichick described Mahomes as being able to “throw the ball out of the stadium.” The Herald passes along Tom Brady saying the Patriots should have scored “at least” 52 points in last Thursday night's 38-24 win over the Colts. The Herald says that Brady and the Patriots are focused on cleaning up their mistakes.

The Providence Journal observes that despite consecutive games scoring 38 points, Brady and the Patriots offense are still looking for a breakout performance.

ESPN has Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce shooting down comparisons between he and Patriots star Rob Gronkowski, recycling an old quote in which the Kansas City star said, “When I get the ball in my hands I’m a different type of athlete.”

ESPNBoston.com looks at Brady’s unique record of throwing touchdown passes to 71 different players, with Josh Gordon becoming the latest TD target in the win over Indy. ESPNBoston.com notes Belichick raving about Mahomes’ “fabulous” arm.

CBSSports.com has an early prediction that Kansas City will get in a "wild shootout" with the Patriots but lose 41-38 on Sunday night.
