There's another Gronk in Massachusetts, but this one isn't a tight end. He's just a bit shorter, much furrier and has four legs.
Ok, so this Gronk is a dog.
The Athol Police Department welcomed a one-year old German shepherd named Gronk to its department earlier this month. The K9 Gronk is currently completing training with his handler Officer Craig Deveneau at the Boston Police K9 Academy, and they are set to graduate in July.
When the department began thinking of names for the newest addition, Chief Russell Kleber said the name Gronk was a perfect fit. He told Lifestyle that they are always looking for ways to strengthen ties to the community, a friendly, strong name like Gronk will certainly help do that.
"Gronk will encourage better relations with law enforcement through community outreach in all parts of society from schools to assisted living facilities," Chief Kleber said in a press release.
Plus, it just simply suits the dog, and Human Gronk agrees. He tweet his admiration this week with a picture of his dog counterpart.
Just when you thought nothing could give Human and Seal Trey Flowers a run for their money, Human and Dog Gronk come into the picture. Either way, the Patriots and their animal namesakes are making for an adorable offseason.
