The Patriots visited with several free agents on Thursday and it would appear the one they're closest to acquiring would be restricted free agent wideout Chris Hogan. Multiple reports indicated the Patriots were poised to sign Hogan to an offer sheet, at which point the Buffalo Bills would have five days to match.

ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss has taken note of the activity involving wide receiver – the Patriots have also been linked to Oakland's Rod Streater – and wonders if the team still has Danny Amendola in its plans.

Reiss also provides a recap of the activity in Foxborough on Thursday.

CSNNE.com says the Patriots AFC East rivals have been busy in free agency thus far. They also have Gronkowski appearing to be happy again in a recent interview. Both Tom E. Curran and Phil Perry offer an analysis of Day 2 of free agency.
