News Blitz 7/23: Patriots QB Tom Brady, NFL in settlement talks?

Today's Patriots.com News Blitz includes yet another update on Tom Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension, as well as continued training camp preview stories.

It's been exactly one month since Tom Brady's appeal hearing took place with the NFL in New York and there is still no decision from Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Many have wondered what could cause the Commissioner to take so long. Now, there may be an answer.

According to the well-connected rumor site ProFootballTalk.com, “settlement discussions have indeed occurred” in the case of Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension in the Deflategate fiasco. The report also indicates that Goodell is "being pushed by a small handful of influential owners to hold firm on the four-game suspension."

Elsewhere, ProFootballTalk.com has NFLPA President Eric Winston saying the organization is “prepared to take the next step, whatever that next step might be,” is Brady's suspension is not overturned by the Commissioner.

The Boston Globe looks at how the Patriots are prepared to use virtual reality technology as a coaching tool, something the team began to implement this spring in practice action.

Training camp doesn't begin until a week from today, but WEEI.com takes a shot at predicting the Patriots 53-man regular season roster before any summer practice action kicks off.

ESPNBoston.com continues its positional breakdowns with a look at the wide receiver spot, where third-year player Aaron Dobson is very much on the bubble. The site also notes that retired special teams coach Scott O’Brien is now working as an area scout for the Patriots.

CSNNE.com's list of the top 50 players of the Bill Belichick era crawls toward the finish line with **Mike Vrabel slotting in at No. 6.**

The Brockton Enterprise continues its training camp preview series with a focus on the new-look cornerback depth chart.
