Patriots Announce Free Agent Signings

The Patriots announced that they have signed S Mike Brown as an unrestricted free agent from Tennessee, S Kevin Byard III as an unrestricted free agent from Chicago, WR Romeo Doubs as an unrestricted free agent from the Green Bay Packers, FB Reggie Gilliam as an unrestricted free agent from the Buffalo Bills, TE Julian Hill as an unrestricted free agent from Miami, LB Dre’Mont Jones as an unrestricted free agent from the Baltimore Ravens and G Alijah Vera-Tucker as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Jets.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have signed S Mike Brown as an unrestricted free agent from Tennessee, S Kevin Byard III as an unrestricted free agent from Chicago, WR Romeo Doubs (Pronounced – DOBBS) as an unrestricted free agent from the Green Bay Packers, FB Reggie Gilliam as an unrestricted free agent from the Buffalo Bills, TE Julian Hill as an unrestricted free agent from Miami, LB Dre'Mont Jones as an unrestricted free agent from the Baltimore Ravens and G Alijah Vera-Tucker as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Jets. Terms of the contracts were not announced.

Brown, 26, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Minnesota Vikings out of Miami (Ohio) in 2022. He spent time as a rookie on the Green Bay, Minnesota and Cleveland practice squads. The 6-foot-1, 218-pounder, was elevated from the practice squad and played in three games for the Browns. He was signed to the Tennessee 53-man roster from the Cleveland practice squad on Jan. 1, 2023, and was inactive for the final game of the season. He has been a key reserve and special teams player for the Titans over the last three seasons. Overall, Brown has played in 38 games with five starts and has 45 total tackles, 2 passes defensed and 15 special teams tackles. Last season, Brown was limited to nine games due to an injury and finished with 3 special teams tackles.

Byard, 32, is a veteran of 10 NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans (2016-23), Philadelphia Eagles (2023) and Chicago Bears (2024-25). The 5-foot-11, 218-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick by Tennessee in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Middle Tennessee State. He was traded by Tennessee to Philadelphia on Oct. 23, 2023, and then signed with Chicago on March 10, 2024, after he was released by the Eagles. Byard played for Head Coach Mike Vrabel in Tennessee (2018-23).

The three-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro (2017, 2021 and 2025) has played in 164 regular season games with 155 starts and has registered 953 total tackles, 6 sacks, 36 interceptions, 81 passes defensed, 4 forced fumbles and 6 fumble recoveries and 19 special teams tackles. He has also played and started in 10 postseason games with 58 total tackles, 1 interception and 2 passes defensed. Last season, he was elected to the Pro Bowl and earned first-team All Pro honors after starting in all 17 games and finishing with 93 total tackles and an NFL-leading 7 interceptions.

Doubs, 25, originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick by Green Bay in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Nevada. The 6-foot-2, 204-pounder, has played in 59 games with 50 starts and has registered 202 receptions for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns. He has also returned 15 punts for 94 yards and has 2 kickoff returns for 39 yards. Doubs has started in all four postseason games that he has played in and has 20 receptions for 371 yards and 2 touchdowns. Last season, Doubs played in 16 games with 15 starts and had 55 receptions for a career-high 724 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Gilliam, 28, is a veteran of six NFL seasons with Buffalo after originally joining the team as a rookie free agent in 2020 out of Toledo. The 6-foot-1, 255-pounder, has helped the Bills rank in the top 10 in the NFL in total rushing yards in each of the last five seasons, including the top-ranked rushing offense in 2025. He has played in 94 regular season games with 11 starts and has 8 rushing attempts for 14 yards and 15 receptions for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns. Gilliam also has 27 career special teams tackles. He has played in 14 postseason games with Buffalo with two starts and has registered 3 receptions for 12 yards.

Last season, Gilliam played in 17 games with two starts and had 2 rushing attempts for 14 yards, 2 receptions for 24 yards and a career-high 13 special teams tackles.

Hill, 25, is a veteran of three NFL seasons with Miami after originally joining the team as a rookie free agent in 2023 out of Campbell. The 6-foot-4, 251-pounder, has played in 45 games with 26 starts and has registered 33 receptions for 288 yards. Last season, he played in 14 games with 11 starts and finished with 15 receptions for 140 yards.

Jones, 29, is a veteran of seven NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos (2019-22), Seattle Seahawks (2023-24), Tennessee Titans (2025) and Baltimore Ravens (2025). The 6-foot-3, 268-pounder, was originally drafted by Denver in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He signed with Seattle as an unrestricted free agent in 2023 and signed with Tennessee in 2025 after being released by the Seahawks. Jones was traded by Tennessee to Baltimore for a 2026 fifth-round draft pick on Nov. 4, 2025.

Jones has played 108 NFL games with 69 starts and has registered 253 total tackles, 37½ sacks, 1 interception, 8 passes defensed, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries. Last season, he played in nine games with nine starts for Tennessee and then nine games with eight starts for Baltimore and finished with 36 total tackles and a career-high 7 sacks.

Vera-Tucker, 26, is a veteran of five NFL seasons with the N.Y. Jets after originally entering the NFL as a first-round draft pick (14th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Southern California. The 6-foot-5, 308-pounder, has started all 43 games he has played with 16 starts at left guard, 20 at right guard, one at left tackle and six at right tackle. Vera-Tucker missed the entire season in 2025 due to injury.
