Former Patriots wide receiver Stanley Morgan has taken another step toward football immortality. The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced that Morgan is one of nine semifinalists in the Senior Category for the Class of 2026, a group reserved for players whose careers ended more than 25 years ago.

Morgan spent his entire 14-year NFL career with New England, from 1977 to 1990, and remains one of the most dynamic players in franchise history. Known for his blazing speed and deep-threat ability, Morgan finished with 72 touchdown receptions and averaged an incredible 19.2 yards per catch, the highest career average for any receiver with at least 500 catches in NFL history.

He still holds the franchise record for all-time receiving yards (10,352) and was inducted into the Patriots team Hall of Fame in 2007.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Morgan was a cornerstone of the Patriots offense during their rise in the late 1970s and 1980s. His impact extended to the team's first Super Bowl appearance in the 1985 season, where he was a key weapon in Raymond Berry's offense.

The Hall of Fame's Senior Committee will narrow the list to three finalists later this year. If selected, Morgan would join Patriots legends and former teammates like John Hannah, Mike Haynes and Andre Tippett in Canton, cementing his legacy as one of the game's greats.

Coming This December: 1985, A Super Bowl Sound Odyssey podcast

Morgan's contributions to the 1985 Patriots will be front and center in a new edition of A Patriots Super Bowl Sound Odyssey, a 10-part podcast series launching this December. The series dives deep into the team's unforgettable run to Super Bowl XX, revisiting the highs and lows of a season that changed the franchise forever.

From the roots of the team to the AFC Championship triumph in Miami, and the ultimate clash with the legendary '85 Bears, the Super Bowl Sound Odyssey podcast brings fans inside the story with rare audio, interviews, and commentary. Morgan's role as a veteran leader and big-play threat will be a recurring theme throughout the series.

Episode 1 is scheduled to be released on December 1, available at Patriots.com and on all podcast platforms.
