By most accounts Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib is not only the Patriots top priority heading into free agency, he could be one of the top free agents overall if he hits the open market when free agency opens at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
But according to a Twitter report from NBC Washington's Dianna Russini, the Patriots are "very close to re-signing their No. 1 cornerback."

There had been indications in recent days that the Redskins were a potential prime suitor for Talib's services if he were to hit the open market. But if this report is accurate, he won't reach that point and will instead return to the New England secondary he's helped stabilize since joining the Patriots via trade from the Bucs at the deadline in 2012.
Are you surprised the Patriots might be able to re-sign Talib given the market that's already been established? Let us know with a comment below!
