Biography
COACHING
Jeremy Springer enters his second season in New England as special teams coordinator after spending the 2022 and 2023 seasons as a special teams assistant with the Los Angeles Rams.
In his first season as special teams coordinator in 2024, Springer led a unit that ranked second in the NFL with a 90.3 grade, per Pro Football Focus. Cornerback Marcus Jones finished second in the NFL with a 14.8-yard punt return average (26 returns for 386 yards).
Under Springer, S Brenden Schooler was named to the Associated Press All-Pro First Team as the core special teamer, the first All-Pro honor of his career. He was also named to his first-career Pro Bowl and his second-consecutive NFLPA All-Pro and PFWA All-NFL teams as a special teamer. Schooler led the Patriots with 9 special teams tackles and a blocked punt in 2024.
K Joey Slye and P Bryce Baringer also set team records in Springer's first season. Slye set a team record with a 63-yard field goal at San Francisco (9/29/24), the fourth-longest kick in NFL history. Baringer set the highest punting average in a single season in franchise history with a 49.8 punting average. Baringer also became the second Patriots punter to have back-to-back seasons with at least 30 punts inside the 20-yard line after finishing with 31 in 2024.
Prior to entering the NFL in 2022, Springer spent eight seasons coaching at the collegiate level.
Following his college career as a standout linebacker at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) from 2007 through the 2011 season, Springer began his professional career as a football operations assistant at UTEP for two seasons before serving two seasons at the school as a graduate assistant coach where he worked with the defensive line and special teams units.
Springer spent three seasons at Texas A&M as a special teams quality control coach (2015-17), three seasons at Arizona as a special teams coordinator (2018-20) and one season at Marshall as special teams coordinator (2021) before joining the NFL.
PLAYING
Springer played collegiately at UTEP from 2007-11 as a linebacker and on special teams. He played in 33 games, recording 161 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and one interception. In his freshman year, he earned the Conference USA Academic Medal and was a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Springer is a native of Los Fresnos, Texas. He has a twin brother, Justin, who played football at Kansas.
