Biography
COACHING
Riley Larkin joins the Patriots as an offensive assistant after spending the 2024 season as assistant quarterbacks coach at Ohio State University.
Larkin spent two years at Ohio State, first serving as an offensive assistant in 2023 before being promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach in 2024. At Ohio State, Larkin worked closely with QB Will Howard, who led the team to its first national title since 2014 and was named the offensive MVP of the national championship game. Nationally, Howard ranked seventh in quarterback rating (83.0), third in passing efficiency (173.72), fifth in passing touchdowns (33) and eighth in passing yards (3,779). He finished the season with career highs in passing attempts, completions, completion percentage, passing yards and touchdowns, having completed 309-of-423 passes for 4,010 yards (73.1 percent), 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Howard also had 105 rushing attempts for 226 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Prior to Ohio State, Larkin was an offensive analyst at Middle Tennessee State in 2022, his first college coaching position. He spent three years coaching quarterbacks at the high school level, first at McLean High School (Va.) from 2019-20 and then at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee, helping the team to a 10-3 record and an appearance in the state quarterfinals. Ravenwood QB Chris Parson earned All-State honors.
PLAYING
From 2015-18, Larkin was a three year letter winner at John Carroll University, where he played quarterback. He was a member of the 2016 team that won a conference championship and reached the national semi-finals. Larkin served as a captain of the team as a senior in 2018.
PERSONAL
Larkin is a native of Kent, Ohio. As a Kent Roosevelt High School student, he served as a Special Olympics coach and volunteer. Larkin later earned his bachelor's degree in adolescent young adult education and social studies in 2019 from John Carroll. His father, Tom, and mother, Amy, both attended John Carroll. Larkin has a brother, Luke, and a sister, Shannon.
