Report: Patriots interested in WR Jordy Nelson

The Patriots have reportedly shown interest in several big name free agent wide receivers this offseason, but thus far have been unable to land one. That evidently hasn't stopped Bill Belichick from continuing to try.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that the Patriots are among a group of teams interested in former Raiders and Packers wideout Jordy Nelson.

Schefter indicated Nelson was meeting with Seattle on Monday.

Nelson, 33, had a decent season in Oakland last year with 63 receptions for 739 yards and three touchdowns. Before tearing his ACL and missing the Packers entire 2015 season he was one of the most productive receivers in the league. He turned in three 1,000-yard seasons in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers. He racked up 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns when he returned in 2016, but has dropped dramatically since. He was released by Oakland last week.

Nelson would add some depth to a thin wide receiver depth chart which currently includes Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Maurice Harris, Bruce Ellington, Braxton Berrios and Damoun Patterson.
